William J. Garland

RICHMOND – William J. Garland, of Richmond, passed away on Sunday, July 17, 2011. He was born May 3, 1947 and raised in Farmville. He was the son of the late William and Evelyn Garland.
He is survived by a son, Adam and wife, Andrea; and twin granddaughters, Madison and Julia, all of Mount Laurel, N.J.; sister, Judy Mottley and husband, Ed, of Farmville; and other cousins, family and friends.
Mr. Garland was a graduate of the University of Virginia, earning a B.S. degree in Commerce, served two years in the U.S. Army, and worked for 31 years as the Vice President of Finance for the Retail Merchants Assoc. of Greater Richmond. He will be remembered for his impeccable integrity, quick wit, and kindness to all.
The family will receive friends 10:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, July 26, at Bliley's-Central, 3801 Augusta Ave.
A private burial will be held in Farmville.

Bliley's Funeral Home, Central Chapel, Richmond, is in charge of arrangements.
