WINSTON-SALEM, NC, July 14 – Marvin Edward Cabaniss, 82, of Winston-Salem, NC, peacefully passed away on Sunday, July 10, 2011. He was born July 28, 1928 in Pulaski, son of the late Jack and Etta (Moore) Cabaniss.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Guy Cabaniss.

Mr. Cabaniss served in the United States Army from 1950 – 1956. He attended the University of Richmond and retired from AT&T after 36 years of service.

Survivors include his wife, Dorothy Davidson Cabaniss; three daughters, Michelle M. Cabaniss of Buckingham, Kimberly Cabaniss Martin and husband, Jim of Lexington, SC and Sara Cabaniss Harb and husband, Trey of Charlotte, NC; a sister, Joyce Cabaniss Carter and husband, Dave of Roanoke; grandchildren, William Austin Martin of Chapel Hill, NC, Andrew James Martin of Seattle, WA, Michael Lee Martin of Clemson, SC, Miles Davidson Harb and Meredith Grace Harb of Charlotte, NC; sister-in-law, Ruby Davidson Pendleton of New Canton; brother-in-law, Earl Davidson and wife, Ginny of Richmond; sister-in-law, Julia Davidson of Richmond; and several devoted nieces and nephews.

He was a loving and devoted husband, father and grandfather.

A funeral service was conducted at 1 p.m. (today) Thursday, July 14, at Mt. Zion Baptist Church in New Canton by the Rev. Adam Tyler, with burial in the church cemetery.
