Harry Cecil Maxey Jr., 73, of Louisa, passed away on Wednesday, July 2. He was preceded in death by his parents, Harry Cecil and Bettie Mae Maxey; brother, Raymond David Maxey; and the love of his life- his wife, Frances Sullivan Maxey.Â
Family left to cherish his memory include his children, Pamela M. Henshaw, Bettie M. Dunnavant, Cynthia M. Bitrick and Harry C. Maxey III; 15 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
Harry was a proud graduate of Fork Union Military Academy. A talented welder, his skills took him around the world before he retired from Carolina Power and Light. Harry took great pride in his membership with George Lodge No. 32, where he was a dedicated Mason. He devoted himself to his passions: building intricate model ships with great craftsmanship, and cultivating a beautiful garden, especially known for his roses. He had a deep affection for his dog, Prissy, who was always by his side.
A private service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, please make donations in Harry’s memory to Masonic Home of Virginia (https://www.mahova.org/donate/) or the Richmond SPCA (https://richmondspca.org/how-you-can-help/donate/).
