Thomas, known as Tom or Tommy, was born in Washington, D.C. on Sept. 24, 1953 and passed away on April 13, in Lynchburg.
He was the second born of three boys to Thelma Kerby O’York and Linwood Marshall O’York.
He is survived by his wife, Katja (Kat) Rotz-O’York of Victoria, where the couple resided for the past 15 years. He was the middle sibling of Michael (Andrea) O’York of Farmville and Lawrence (Marcia) O’York of Pamplin. Tom also enjoyed time spent with all of his nieces and nephews.
Tom was employed as a sales representative with Kemper Life out of Richmond. A graduate of Suitland High School in Suitland, Maryland, he attended Campbell University in Buies Creek, North Carolina to pursue his love of music and singing. He developed a strong desire to perform imitations and vocals of his favorite singer, Elvis Presley, which his family and friends will always remember him for.
A “Celebration of Life” service will be held on May 3, at The Remnant Church, 626 Plank Road, Farmville, VA 23901. Family will receive friends from 2 to 3:30 p.m., with the eulogy and prayers starting at 2:30. Pastor Jeff Spencer will conduct the service.
