One point is all that separates the two teams getting ready to face off in Friday’s state quarterfinal football game. The Buckingham Knights come in undefeated, 13-0 after last week’s 27-7 win over Madison County.

Round two was about the same as round one. Back on Sept. 6, Buckingham beat Madison 29-15. This time around, the defense cracked down even harder and held the Mountaineers to just one score. To put the season so far in perspective, Buckingham has only given up 55 points total. That averages out to just 4.2 per game. Meanwhile, their offense has put up 397 points, averaging 30 per game.

But like we said, one point separates Buckingham from the team on the other side of the field, the Strasburg Rams. The Rams come in at 11-1, that one loss coming in a 7-6 road game against Clarke County. If you want to compare the two teams, both played Madison County and finished with nearly identical scores. Strasburg won 28-7 in their only game this season against the Mountaineers. If the Rams have a weakness, it’s on their defense, where they’ve given up 124 points compared to Buckingham’s 55. That 124 is still not bad at all, considering it averages out to 10.3 per game. Strasburg will have one advantage, as they’re the home team for this game. That matchup is set to kick off Friday at  7 p.m.
