Jack M. Robeson (Jaquelin Marshall Meredith Robeson Jr.), 76, passed away peacefully, Saturday, Oct. 5, following a brief illness. Born in Farmville, April 17, 1948, he was predeceased by his parents J. Meredith Robeson and Anne Walters Robeson.
A lifelong resident of Virginia, Jack graduated from Cumberland County High School, earned a BA in History from Virginia Tech, an MBA from Virginia Commonwealth University and was a graduate of the Virginia-Maryland School of Bank Management.
Jack taught school in Cumberland and Henrico counties before embarking on a 40-year career in banking beginning at Virginia National Bank in Norfolk, continuing with Sovran Bank and Nations Bank in Martinsville and Farmville. He worked for Essex Bank and Southern Community Bank and Trust in the Richmond area retiring as Senior Executive Vice President and Commercial Lender of Village Bank in 2012.
Throughout his life, Jack had an affinity for music, history, math, story telling, basketball and Virginia Tech football. He enjoyed spending time in nature including going on family camping trips in the Appalachian mountains, fishing, and hiking. One of his favorite places to visit was the Outer Banks where he surfed, fished, adventured, and spent good times with family as a child and adult. He is missed.
Jack is survived by three children, Jay Robeson of Austin, Texas, Sarah Robeson (Ryon Hunter) of Midlothian and Leslie Scarfo of Arlington; and a sister, Elizabeth Robeson Bonnar (Jim Bonnar) of Gloucester Point.
A celebration of life will be held on Nov.9, from 1-3 p.m., at the All Souls Episcopal Atlee House: 9077 Atlee Road, Mechanicsville, VA 23116.
