PRINCE EDWARD – County supervisors agreed Tuesday night to give the County Administrator more time.
Three more years.
The board, on a 6-2 vote (with Farmville District (701) Supervisor Jim Wilck and Prospect Supervisor Howard “Pete” Campbell opposing), agreed to extend County Administrator Wade Bartlett's contract at his current level of pay.
Bartlett was still under a one-year contract approved last year, which would run through June.
“Wade has performed admirably for the County of Prince Edward since he came to us on July 1, 2007,” Board Chairman William “Buckie” Fore commented after the meeting.
He also added, “And he has proven himself to be an asset to…the County, the citizens of the County and the board of supervisors.”
The new contract is effective July 1. The board authorized the County Attorney James R. Ennis rewrite the contract for three years and for Fore to sign it.
Bartlett is a native of Paducah, Kentucky. His background includes (according to a previously supplied press release) service in the Marine Corps, where he enlisted in 1976 and retired as a major after 20 years of service. While in service, he earned a bachelor's of science degree in political science from East Carolina University, and a master's of science degree in organizational management from the University of Arkansas and financial administration from the Naval Post-Graduate School.
After his retirement from military service in 1996, Bartlett served as finance director and treasurer for the Town of Pulaski; he was appointed finance director for Martinsville in 1997 and served as assistant city manager and interim city manager prior to coming to Prince Edward in the summer of 2007.
