Frederick Steinke, 69 Ret. US Navy Vet Dies October 21

OCTOBER 23 – Frederick Wilhelm Steinke, 69, of Farmville, died Tuesday, October 21, 2008 in Richmond. He was born July 29, 1939 in New York, the son of the late William and Alvena Schuitt Steinke.

He retired from the United States Navy after 20 years of service; was a member of VFW Post 7059, and a member of New Life Assembly of God.

Mr. Steinke is survived by four children, Marie Guerrero of Ramseur, NC, Wayne Steinke of Farmville, Calvin Steinke of Appomattox, and Anna Garcia of Lacey, WA; 11 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; and a sister, Marion Sarles and husband, Art of Prappsville, NY.

Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m., Monday, October 27, in the Chapel of Shorter Funeral Home, with interment to follow at 1 p.m. in the Virginia Veterans Cemetery, Amelia, with Military Honors.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
