Chris Jamison, Jr., 89

ROANOKE, Feb. 22 – Chris Hall Jamison Jr., 89, of Roanoke, passed away on Wednesday, February 16, 2011 with family by his side. He joins his loving parents, Sarah Lottie Renick Jamison and Chris Hall Jamison Sr. and brothers, Ben and Charles in his new heavenly home.

Born September 18, 1921 in Callaway, Mr. Jamison went on to serve in the U.S. Air Force during WWII with the 494th Bomber Group. After attending the Art Institute in California, he went on to become Art Director at Houck Advertising in Roanoke. He was a prolific artist in oils and watercolor, and designed the official seal for Roanoke County.

Left to cherish his memory are his devoted wife of 66 years, Carolyn Turner Jamison; loving daughters and their husbands, Candy and Chuck Dowdy of Farmville, Cindy and Jerry Fulks of LaGrange, GA, and Lynn and John Yates of Roanoke; grandchildren, Hollace Dowdy, Chris Dowdy and wife, Katherine, Jamie Fulks Almand and husband, Matt, Clay Fulks and wife, Jenny, and Julia and Caroline Rigby; great-grandchildren, Sumner, Witten, and Woods Dowdy, Wells and Mary Clayton Almand, and Jackson Fulks; and sisters Angie Laing and Jane Davis.

A service to celebrate Mr. Jamison's life was conducted Saturday, February 19, at Oakey's South Chapel. A private interment followed the service.
