PROSPECT, Feb. 22 – Iva Lou Baker, 84, of Prospect, passed away Thursday, February 17, 2011 at her residence. She was born February 15, 1927 in Tennessee, a daughter of the late Albert and Cellie Lynn.

She was the wife of James Douglas Baker Sr. They were married for over 67 years. They moved to Virginia in 1985 from Michigan. As a homemaker, she cared for her husband and all her children very much. Mrs. Baker loved people, sewing, flower gardens and crocheting. She had a deep love for her church and her church family.

She is survived by her husband, her children, James D. Baker Jr. (JoAnn) of Casco, Michigan, John Albert Baker (Carol) of Midland, Michigan and Sharon Elaine Spangenberg (Roger) of Prospect; seven grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her 11 brothers and sisters.

A funeral service was held Saturday, February 19, at the Prospect Gospel Tabernacle with interment in the church cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Farmville Church of Christ.

Puckett Funeral Home, Farmville, was in charge of arrangements.
