Sallie Amos will run for a second term representing Ward E on the Farmville Town Council. Amos made the announcement earlier this week, saying she is committed to making a difference in town. She began serving on Council on July 1, 2020, after being elected on May 19, 2020.

“I am committed to making a positive difference in the community by serving the people of Ward E and the Town of Farmville,” Amos said. “Your voices and input have made a meaningful difference in how I approached many issues concerning Ward E’s residents and the town at large. During my time on Council, I learned a great deal and grew as a person in our community. This is thanks to the invaluable mentorship of my fellow and former councilmembers, former Mayor Whitus, Vice Mayor Reid, Mayor Vincent, and Town Manager Davis.”

Amos added that she is extremely proud of the challenges the current board has met and what they have accomplished.

“Approving the Virginia Retirement System, which increased benefits for town employees, is a highlight of my Council term,” Amos said. “I am extremely proud of the employees and our Council, in that the town has become more financially stable. This has been achieved through a balanced budget and wise use of funds. We offer competitive pay for current and new employees, and the town has experienced growth, especially in our ongoing revitalization of the downtown area.”

“Through the town’s leadership by our Town Manager, Mayor, as well as a diverse, cohesive Council, I am confident this group is well positioned to build on this progress. With your trust and support, I look forward to meeting any new challenges head on in the next four years.”

She is the third council member to file for re-election, following Donald Hunter and Daniel Dwyer.
