Robert ‘Bob’ Sydnor SheltonRobert “Bob” Sydnor Shelton, 85, of Columbus, Ohio, passed away on Sunday, Aug. 11. He was surrounded by his family and supported by hospice in his last few weeks. 

Bob was born in 1938 in Gretna, to Douglas H. Shelton and Alice J. Shelton and grew up in East Spencer, North Carolina. He graduated from Catawba College in Salisbury, North Carolina. For 46 years he lived in Farmville, where he first worked as a banker and then as a real estate broker. He was a founding member of Heritage Baptist Church, where he held several leadership roles and was a member of the choir. He found great joy in praising God through music. Bob had a passion for baking and was well known for his amazing chocolate chip cookies. He loved sharing the cookies as much as he enjoyed baking them. 

He was preceded in death by his parents, and his brother.

He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Nancy B. Shelton; daughters, Meredith S. Miear (Mark) and Jessica S. Banachowski (Keith) and seven grandchildren, Reed, Scarlett, and Camille Ewing, Lydia and Wesley Banachowski, and Sammi and Paige Miear.

Private Memorial Service will be held in Virginia at a later date.
