William James and Rochette Alma Allen celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary in January. They were married Jan 14, 1961, at Farmville United Methodist Church. Billy is the son of Lillian and Walters Allen. Rochie is the middle daughter of nine children of John R. and Jane Rebecca Glenn Webb. Henry Webb, Rochie's older brother, gave her away, and Kathleen Webb, Rochie's younger sister, was her maid of honor. Charles R. Shorter was the best man. In 1969 the young couple took over ownership of Collins Florist, renaming it Rochette's Florist in 1970. This business venture grew from their mutual love of flow-ers – both of them had worked with Collins Florist. Rochie and Billy have two sons, William Glenn Allen and Sidney J. Allen and one grandchild, Jenna Loret Allen. The celebration for their anni-versary was held on Jan. 16 at the Gee Price Center, Fuqua School.
