Dr. and Mrs. Lynn Carson Blackwood, Jr., of Meherrin, an-nounce the engagement of their daughter, Miss Heather Louise Blackwood, to Robert Overton Hammock, son of Mr. and Mrs. Timothy William Hammock, of Farmville.

Miss Blackwood is a 2009 graduate of Longwood University and is currently a graduate student at Lynchburg College.

Mr. Hammock is a 2006 graduate of Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University and is the manager of Southern States in Burkeville.

An October 8 wedding is planned.
