JANUARY 27 – Phyllis Jean Stables Breil, 62, of Farmville, ended her battle with breast cancer and entered the paradise of our Lord on Tuesday, January 25, 2011. Born on October 16, 1948, to Tommy and Jean Stables and raised in Lunenburg County, she was a school nurse for Prince Edward County Middle School for over 20 years. She was always at her happiest when helping others, including her work as a Parish Nurse at Farmville United Methodist Church, where she was an active member when she lived in Farmville. Whether it was providing a loving word, warm meal or a bedside companion, she was there for anyone at any time. Outside of the church and her work, Mrs. Breil's purest joy came from spending time with her grandson, Tommy. Initially diagnosed with cancer when Tommy was only one year old, she gained a tremendous amount of peace realizing she lived long enough for Tommy to always remember his Grandma, whom he loved very much.

She was also fortunate enough to know that her only daughter and her daughter-in-law are both expecting new babies in August.

Mrs. Breil was preceded in death by husband, David A. Breil, and is survived by her devoted daughter, Krista Williams McFarland, and husband, Jeff; loving sons, Will and wife Chelsey, (and Tommy), Jeremy, and Nicholas Williams; two sisters, Stephanie (and Charles) Arvin and Elaine (and Mark) Fasig; and several nieces and nephews who will always remember their special time with “Fe-Fe.”

A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, January 29, at Farmville United Methodist Church in Farmville with reception to follow.

Mrs. Breil has requested that donations be made to “Susan G. Komen for the Cure,” a breast cancer awareness and research organization, or the Farmville United Methodist Church.

The Shorter Funeral Home, Farmville, is serving the family. Condolences may also be made online at www.shorterfuneralhome.com.
