Farmville police brought in help to search for a robbery suspect this morning. The incident happened just after 6 a.m. Wednesday, June 5., as a black man dressed in a black shirt and red pants walked into the Marathon gas station, located in the 500 block of East Third Street. He was also wearing dark sunglasses and a mask. According to police, the man pulled out a gun and demanded money from the register. He then left on foot, heading east.
“Officers conducted a thorough search of the area but have not yet located the suspect,” Farmville Police Chief Andy Ellington said. “The
investigation is still ongoing.”
He added that no injuries were reported during this incident. Ellington said they’ve brought in the Virginia State Police canine unit to help officers continue the search. Aside from that, Farmville police are asking for help from local residents.
“We are asking anyone that has any information as to the identity and/or the whereabouts of the individual to contact us,” said Sam Bowles. He serves as the public information officer for Farmville Police.
Anyone who sees the person in question is asked not to approach, but rather just call 911. You can also anonymously call 434-392-3332, that’s the Farmville police number.
