Jazmyn Simmons has been hired as the Longwood Women’s Basketball Team’s Director of Basketball Operations, Head Coach Erika Lang-Montgomery announced Wednesday.
Simmons, a two-time graduate of Florida, spent the last two seasons as a graduate assistant for the Gators after being a student manager since 2019. She provided support for UF women’s basketball squads that advanced to the postseason four times, including the 2022 NCAA tournament and WNIT in both 2023 and 2021.
“I’m excited to have a fellow Florida Gator on staff,” Lang-Montgomery said. “I was fortunate to work alongside Jazmyn when I was an assistant coach at Florida. As a student manager, she had a strong work ethic and I knew I would want her on my staff one day. Jazz’s attention to detail and her organizational skills will be an asset to our program. She will take over some of the administrative tasks our assistant coaches have had in the past and she will also be a great role model for our student-athletes.”
“I am truly grateful for the opportunity to join Coach Erika and the Longwood Lancers in Virginia,” said Simmons. “This program has a bright future ahead.
“Meeting Coach Erika at the University of Florida in 2019 was the start of a great journey and I am excited to take it to another level,” Simmons continued. “I am thankful for (director of basketball operations) Serena Lamar and the staff at Florida women’s basketball for pushing me throughout my college career to achieve this new position.
“I look forward to using my knowledge, skills and experience to be an asset to the program, but I am also eager to continue learning. I can’t wait to get to work. Go Lancers.”
Simmons holds a bachelor’s degree in health science (2022) and master’s degree in sport management (2024) from Florida.
