State Sen. John McGuire will serve another role later this year. McGuire announced on Wednesday that he’s going to be one of Virginia’s delegates to the Republican National Convention, representing Donald Trump.
That means he’ll be headed to Milwaukee, where Republicans will gather from July 15 to July 18 to officially select a presidential nominee. McGuire has a race of his own to compete in as well. He’s challenging Republican incumbent Bob Good for Virginia’s 5th District seat in the House of Representatives.
Longwood claims third spot
Radford University has earned the No. 1 seed in the upcoming Big South Men’s Golf Championship, which will be hosted at the Ocean Creek Golf Course on Fripp Island, South Carolina. The Highlanders receive the No. 1 seed based on their current Clippd national ranking of 147, the highest among the eight Big South men’s golf programs.
High Point is ranked No. 181 in the nation by Clippd and receives the No. 2 seed, just ahead of defending champion and three-seeded Longwood’s ranking of 192. Winthrop comes in fourth and Charleston Southern will be the fifth seed.
The Big South Men’s Golf Championship will be held at the Ocean Creek Golf Course as part of the Fripp Island Golf and Beach Resort for the first time, and will utilize a par 71, 6,526-yard layout to determine this year’s champion.
