High Bridge To Charge For Parking Starting Jan. 1

Published 2:29 pm Monday, December 31, 2012

Effective January 1, 2013, High Bridge Trail State Park will begin charging daily parking fees. Using self-payment centers at the park's main parking areas, the park will collect $2 per vehicle on weekdays and $3 per vehicle on weekends. Managed by the Virginia Department of Conservation and Recreation, High Bridge Trail State Park joins most other Virginia State Parks in charging a parking or admittance fee. Parking fees and other revenue are used to operate and maintain state parks.

The self-payment centers will be located at the Elam, Prospect, Tuggle, River Road and Rice parking lots. Beginning January 1, those without proof of paying the fee are subject to a fine.

In addition to the standard vehicle fees there is $2 fee for trailers, $3 for horse trailers, and for trailers with more than two horses a $2 per animal fee. The parking fee for buses of 16 or more passengers is $10 daily.
