Joyce Gooden and Martha Louis of Historic Buckingham recently hosted a visit by a UVA class studying Black one room schools in Central Virginia. Joyce was a student at Union Grove School and could describe what a day in the school was like ( with no electricity or running water) even into the 1960s.
