Peggy Ann Shupe Cave, of Farmville, passed away peacefully at The Woodland/Brookview on March 27. Born in Gate City on August 20, 1934, Peggy was the youngest child of Granville Mitchell Dee and Cora Belle Henry Shupe.
Predeceased by her husband, Paul, and daughter, Kim, she is survived by daughter, Cindy (Stacey) of Lynchburg; son, Mark (Gail) of Farmville; granddaughters, Michelle Cunningham (Aaron), Sarah Privette (Curtis) and Charlotte Haskins (Larry); and six great grandchildren.
Peggy graduated from Longwood College and began her lifelong dream as a teacher of Social Studies and Government at Prince Edward Academy/Fuqua School for more than 30 years. Her students were her delight!
As a member of Farmville Baptist Church for 64 years, she was a Life Deacon and served in many capacities, most notably interim choir director for many years. She shared her vocal talent at many revivals, weddings and funerals and was instrumental in establishing the bell choir. Music was her love! Peggy’s faith & family came first, but she also enjoyed participation in Garden Club, Daughters of American Revolution, Book Club and Commonwealth Chorale.
A memorial service will be held at Farmville Baptist Church on Sunday, April 7 at 3 p.m., followed by a visitation reception in the church fellowship hall. Memorial donations may be made to Farmville Baptist Church or Fuqua School.
Puckett Funeral Home is serving the family.
