McClure gets state scholarship

On Saturday, March 9, Amy Newcomb McClure, member of the local Delta Alpha chapter of the Delta Kappa Gamma Society International, attended the society’s Leadership Seminar at Randolph-Macon College in Ashland. At the event, Amy was recognized as the recipient of a $2600 scholarship from the Virginia State Organization of Delta Kappa Gamma to help fund the costs of her Doctorate of Educational Leadership at Virginia Tech. Amy’s degree completion date is May 2025.
Amy, a former math instructor, is currently the Coordinator of Grants for Prince Edward County Public Schools. She has been a member of the Lunenburg County School Board for eleven years, and she serves as vice chair of the joint board of the Governor’s School of Southside Virginia. In addition, she served as the southern regional chair of the Virginia School Board Association from November 2021 to November 2023, and she held membership on HB 585, a committee that focuses on assessment revisions in Virginia public schools.
Amy is a Lunenburg County native who has been married to Corey McClure since 2005; the couple has two daughters, Aubrey, age 15, and Ally, age 12, who attend Lunenburg County Public Schools.
