On Sunday, March 17, the Sandy River Branch of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints became the Sandy River Ward. In the Church, smaller congregations are known as branches, led by a branch president. In recent years, thanks to the Christlike ministering and sharing of the restored gospel message by local church members, the congregation has experienced significant growth, with over 160 individuals attending Sunday worship services, called sacrament meetings. With this transition, branch president Brent Roberts was ordained as Bishop, with Adam Jaynes and Val Hilton as counselors. Shown here, many members of the newly-constituted Sandy River Ward gathered for a commemorative photo on March 17. All are invited to attend sacrament meeting, which is held at 10 a.m. each Sunday at the chapel, located at 400 6th Street in Burkeville.
