Garland Wilkerson, 79

CUMBERLAND, April 29 – Garland Wilkerson, 79, of Cumberland, died on Monday, April 28, 2008. He was born on April 24, 1929, the son of the late Walter and Liza Price Wilkerson, and was a member of the Odd Fellows and the Masonic Lodge.
Mr. Wilkerson was retired from Browns and Williamson Tobacco Co. as a Buyer, also was a realtor for Coldwell Bankers and had worked for Baldwin's Department Store.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, John Wilkerson and Price Wilkerson, and three sisters, Margaret Miller, Betty King and Dolly King.
Mr. Wilkerson is survived by his wife, Lavera Forbes Wilkerson of Cumberland; two daughters, Eddie Jo Knick and Daye Lowe of Tuttle; sister, Lucille Lightener of Kansas; brother, James A. (Bobby) Wilkerson of Farmville; grand-sons, David Lowe and wife, Suzie of Dumpass and Edward Lowe of Powhatan; and great-grandchildren, Amber and Hunter Lowe of Powhatan.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday from 1-3 p.m. at Doyne-Burger-Davis Funeral Home where services will follow in the chapel at 3 p.m. with interment in Westview Cemetery.
Remembrances may be made in his memory to the Prince Ed-ward County Rescue Squad.
