Alice Jordan Campbell, 95 of Prospect, passed away peacefully on Sept. 23. She was born on March 1, 1928 to the late Wheeler and Lucy Gilliam Jordan. She grew up in Charlotte County on her parent’s family farm.
After graduating from Longwood College, she married Frank and moved to Prospect. She and Frank built their house, at Rock Hill Farm, where she lived for nearly 70 years. She had an avid passion for her yard and flowers and, unquestionably, had the neatest, and most well-kept yard and flower beds in Prospect.
Alice was very active in her community and church. She was a member of Davis Memorial Presbyterian Church, where she taught Sunday school for 15 years, was active in the Presbyterian Women’s Group and choir director. She was a member of the Red Hatters Club and enjoyed the trips and lunches with her friends in that group. She taught art for most of her career at Randolph-Henry High School and was a beloved and cherished teacher.
Alice was a wonderful artist. She has many paintings that she proudly displayed in her house, and she could tell a unique story behind most of them. Alice loved angels and collected many of them over the years.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Frank K. Campbell; a brother, Malcomb Jordan; sister, Lula Allen and a niece, Vera Allen.
She is survived by Jimmy Coleman (Monica) and daughters, many nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be held on Sunday, Oct. 1, at 3 p.m., in the chapel of Puckett Funeral Home. Family will receive friends 1 hour prior starting at 2 p.m. Interment will follow service at Prospect United Methodist Church Cemetery. Memorial contributions can be made to Davis Memorial Presbyterian Church or the Prospect Volunteer Fire Department.
