David Franklin Fulcher, 79 of Dillwyn, died Saturday, Sept. 30. He was born March 18, 1944, in Dillwyn, the youngest son of 11 children of the late J. Rosser and Mary Jamerson Fulcher.
He was a retired inspection supervisor for Colonial Pipeline Company, having been employed there 36 years. He was an active and devoted member of First Baptist Church, serving as a deacon, choir member and a member of numerous committees; lifetime member of Dillwyn Fire Department and former member of Dillwyn Rescue Squad.
David is preceded in death by his beloved wife, Carol Lee Fulcher; brothers, James (Jim), Hoover (Joe) and John Fulcher; sisters, Pearl Fulcher and Nancy LeSueur.
He is survived by daughters, Lisa F. Bailey (Jeff) and Kim F. LeSueur both of Dillwyn; a brother Henry Fulcher of Lynchburg; four sisters, Elsie F. St. John of Richmond, May F. Fulcher of Farmville, Marie F. Garrett of Dillwyn and Betty Fulcher of Lynchburg; brother-in-law, Donald K. Reardon (Anna) of Florida; grandchildren, Josh Bailey (Jaime), Danielle LeSueur (Scott), Whitney Davis (Eric) and Claire LeSueur all of Dillwyn and Emily LeSueur (Anthony) of Midlothian; great- grandchildren, D.J., Sawyer, Dawson, Fynn, Brixx, Sophia and Riley; a special angel, Kathy “Sis” Midkiff and numerous friends.
His presence and love was a blessing to all who knew him. He was well known for his love of telling long detailed stories, laughter, playing cards, music and golf.
Family visitation was Tuesday, Oct. 3, from 5 – 7 p.m. at Dunkum Funeral Home.
The funeral service will be held Wednesday, Oct. 4, at 11 a.m. at First Baptist Church, Dillwyn with interment in the Dillwyn Town Cemetery.
