On Sept. 29, God allowed Rosa Nell Blanton, of Cumberland County, to celebrate her 98th birthday. She is pictured celebrating at Country Cookin' in Farmville with family and friends. Rosa has seen many changes over her 98 years, from a loaf of bread costing six cents to now costing $3.96, from transportation being a horse and buggy to hybrid cars, from no telephones to I-Phones and from no TVs to 3D TVs. She has raised 10 children, Rev. Lucille Maddox, Arvenue, NY; Susie Sanderson (John), Richmond; Lewis Blanton (deceased); Delisa Blanton, Farmville; Angela McCorkle, Jamaica, NY; Admus Gary Blanton, Farmville; Alice Hamlet, Midlothian; Silas Blanton (Tonya), Farmville; Gloria Vincent (Lawrence), Hurdle Mills, NC; and Curtis Blanton, (Jennifer) Baltimore, MD. She has 17 grandchildren, 31 great-grandchildren and 13 great-great-grandchildren. At 98, she eats what she wants, comes and goes as she pleases, and gives God all the glory and praise for her great health at 98 years old.
