BUCKINGHAM, October 9 – Robert Lewis Stinson, 47, passed away Tuesday, October 2, 2012 at his residence in Buckingham. He was retired from the Virginia Department of Transportation and was a past member of the Buckingham County Volunteer Fire Department and Volunteer Rescue Squad.
He is survived by his mother, Charlotte Adams Stinson and devoted friend, Edward Bowman of Blackstone; friend, Michael Bottoms; sisters, Sharon A. Stinson of Alberta and Tammy S. James and husband, Curtis, and nephew, Curtis J. James all of Cumberland; two half-brothers, William L. Stinson Jr. and Andrew Lee Stinson; half-sister, Judy S. Lumpkin; devoted cousin, Junior Rowe and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews and several devoted friends, Tim Farrar, Bobby Allen and Dickie Davis. He was preceded in death by his father, William L. Stinson Sr.
A graveside service was held Saturday, October 6 at Salem United Methodist Church Cemetery in Buckingham.
The Shorter Funeral Home, Farmville, served the family.
