James G. Williams, 89 U.S. Army Vet Dies June 14

JUNE 16 – James George Williams, 89, of Farmville, died Sunday, June 14, 2009 in Richmond.
Born in Washington County, April 16, 1920, he was the son of the late Robert Harrison and Nannie Mae Wolfe Williams. He was a U.S. Army veteran and was awarded a Bronze Star for his service in Europe during World War II. Mr. Williams retired after 25 years as a mechanic at Fort Pickett.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, James Dennwood Williams and four brothers, Leon, Paul, Robert K. and Buford.
He is survived by his daughter, Karen Williams of Farmville; granddaughters, Jennifer Lynn Hall of Amelia, Kimberley Marie Hall of Chesterfield, and Ashley Irene Hall of Chesterfield; and nine great-grandchildren, Tyler Jordan Hall, Tristan Lane Ruth-kowski, Cody Lane Ruthkowski, Xavier James Reed, Journey Lynn Reyes-Hall, Jomar Ivan Reyes Jr., Isaiah Sentel Louis Ruffin, Sayriah Nicole Ruffin and Kayiah Shannon Ruffin.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Cumberland Presbyterian Church with interment in the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 6 until 8:30 p.m., Tuesday (today), at the funeral home.
