SOUTH CAROLINA, September 27 – Dorothy (Tinker) Davidson Cabaniss, 78, of Lexington, South Carolina, passed away on Tuesday morning, September 25, 2012.
She was born on November 28, 1933, in New Canton, a daughter of the late John and Sarah Davidson. On December 24, 1955, she married her husband of over 55 years, Marvin Edward Cabaniss, and they resided in Winston-Salem, North Carolina, until his death on July 10, 2011.
Survivors include three daughters, Michelle M. Cabaniss of Buckingham, Kimberly Cabaniss Martin and husband, Jim of Lexington, South Carolina, and Sara Cabaniss Harb and husband, Trey of Charlotte, North Carolina; sister, Ruby Davidson Pendleton of New Canton; brother, Earl Davidson and wife, Ginny of Richmond; and two sisters-in-law, Julia Davidson of Richmond, and Joyce Cabaniss Carter and husband, Dave of Roanoke; five grandchildren, William Austin Martin of Chapel Hill, North Carolina, Andrew James Martin of Seoul, Korea, Michael Lee Martin of Clemson, South Carolina, and Miles Davidson Harb and Meredith Grace Harb, both of Charlotte, North Carolina; and several devoted nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by two brothers, John (Shorty) Davidson and Clarence (Punk) Davidson, and a sister, Louise Bickford.
She was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend. Tinker to her family, Dot to her friends, and Tinky to her grandchildren. She left behind a legacy of love, honesty, kindness, and laughter to every heart she touched.
A funeral service will be conducted at 3 p.m., September 28, at Mt. Zion Baptist Church in New Canton with the Reverend Adam Tyler officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church.
Memorial contributions may be made to your local Alzheimer's Association.
