Editor, The Herald:
I retired approximately two years ago as a small business owner. I have three children and six grandchildren. I am very concerned for the wellbeing and livelihood of my family, as well as others.
I am a Democrat and I strongly support and believe that President Obama is a great president. He has inherited a mess and we should all know that no president could turn our situation around in four years.
We need a President that stands up for all the people, one that especially shares the concerns for the middle class as well as the lower class. One that understands the struggles of the small business owners. We need one that cares about providing an opportunity for an affordable college education for all. While Governor Romney supports cuts to education, President Obama has worked to make college more affordable. He believes we need to invest in making our schools the best in the world so that our young people can compete and maintain a strong middle class at home as well as an American economic power abroad.
I have a grandchild with asthma and the recently passed Affordable Care Act insures that coverage for her cannot be denied. Do you know anyone with a pre-existing condition?
Although there are five candidates, we have two major candidates with opposite opinions on the direction to lead his country. It does not take a rocket scientist to recognize that moving forward with the accomplishments made in the last four years is the best direction. Let's do our part and go to the polls as well as take a neighbor or friend on November 6th and re-elect President Barrack Obama.
