August 30 – Plans are underway for the annual Chicken and Pig Barbecue at the Darlington Heights Volunteer Fire Department. The event will be held on Saturday, Sept. 8, starting at 3 p.m.
Activities include a Cruise-In for antiques and custom automobiles, a bounce house and games for children, Life-Evac helicopter, and music.
Local musicians Trey and Joanne Eppes will begin the event with their entertaining music. Trey is a longtime musician and songwriter from Darlington Heights that performs at venues all over the state and east coast. Recently joining him is his wife Joanne who plays bass guitar.
Also providing music is the band Collision from the Lynchburg area, featuring Greg Scruggs. Collision plays a wide range of music from Country to Rock to Top 40.
Delicious barbequed chicken cooked by Tony Mitchell and Llew Gilliam will be served along with coleslaw, baked beans, Texas toast and a beverage.
Our famous pork barbeque will also be available along with our secret sauce and all the fixings. Delicious homemade pies will be available also.
<br />Be sure and mark your calendars for Sept. 8. Bring a law chair and enjoy an evening of good food, good music, and good friends. You will also be supporting your local volunteer fire department.
