BUCKINGHAM – On Saturday, August 25, at 7 p.m., Buckingham Baptist Church is hosting Movie Night. And, it's free.
Children ages four through 12 will be able to enjoy The Lorax.
For ages 13 through adult, the evening will feature the beginning movie in The Left Behind Series. The church is planning to show sequels once a month.
Along with the movies, there will be hot dogs, popcorn, and beverages.
Pastor Doug Adams and the Buckingham Baptist Church family invite you and your family to join with them for Movie Night. Buckingham Baptist Church is located on Route 15 at Gold Hill.
Smokey Wilson will perform in concert at Bethel United Methodist Church on Saturday, August 25, beginning at 4 p.m.
Pastor Billy Swan and the Bethel UMC family invite everyone to join with them for this great time of worship through music. Bethel UMC is located on Route 640, Andersonville Road.
Please note that the Senior Day planned for Saturday, August 25, at Ellis Acres Memorial Park in Dillwyn, has been cancelled.

On Sunday, August 26, from 5 to 7 p.m., Browns Chapel United Methodist Church is hosting Back to School Fun Night.
An evening of fun, food, and games is planned to help kids with those back to school blues and/or generate some excitement and motivation about the new school year.
Everyone is invited. Browns Chapel UMC is located on Route 617, Gravel Hill Road.
Please note that Browns Chapel will not have morning worship service on Sunday, August 26, because its members will be attending Homecoming at its sister church, Hanes Chapel UMC.
Enon Baptist Church will celebrate Homecoming on Sunday, August 26. The day will begin with Sunday school at 10 a.m., followed by worship at 11:15. Lee Davis will be leading the Homecoming Worship Service with special music by Marilyn Snoddy.
After the service, the fellowship and good food of the traditional homecoming luncheon will be shared.
Homecoming will usher in three nights of Revival beginning on Monday, August 27 through Wednesday, August 29, at 7:30 each evening.
On Monday night, Bob Johansen will be the featured speaker with music by the Johansen Family. On Tuesday, Doug Adams will be in the pulpit and Faye Fisher will be singing. Revival will conclude on Wednesday with the message by Jimmy Dunn and music by the Mt. Zion Baptist Church Choir.
Enon Baptist Church welcomes you to share the fellowship of Homecoming and the renewal of Revival. The church is located on Route 640, Andersonville Road.
Glenmore United Methodist Church will host Homecoming on Sunday, August 26.
This special day of worship, fellowship, and food will begin at 10 a.m. with music by the James River Cut-Ups. The 11 a.m. worship service will include a message by the Reverend Brant Hays.
Following the service, the traditional homecoming lunch will be shared.
Revival services will be held Monday, August 27, through Friday, August 31, at 7 p.m. each evening. [Please note the change in time.]
Featured speakers include the Reverend Donald Collins on Monday; Reverend Jimmy Dunn on Tuesday; Reverend Billy Swan on Wednesday and Thursday, and the Reverend John Flood on Friday. Each night of revival will include special music.
At the conclusion of the service on Friday night, refreshments will be served.

Trinity United Methodist Church invites everyone to join with them for Homecoming and Revival.
Homecoming will be celebrated on Sunday, August 26, beginning with worship at 11 a.m. After the service, lunch will be served.
Revival services will be held Monday, August 27, through Wednesday, August 29, at 7:30 each evening. The Reverend Larry Mann will be the featured speaker.
Special music will include the First Baptist Church Choir with Cody Moss on Monday; Red Clay featuring Lindsey Absher and Butch Davis on Tuesday; and Worm Patterson and All Problems Solved on Wednesday.
Following Wednesday's service, a time of fellowship and refreshments is planned. Trinity UMC is located on Route 60 at 13463 West James Anderson Hwy, in Buckingham Court House.
Co-Ed Soccer Signups: Registration for ages four and five, based on age as of September 1, will be held on Monday, August 27, from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m., at a location to be announced. Registration fee is $35 but will increase to $40 after September 1.

Heartland Outreach Ministries is hosting its first annual Cruise-In on September 1, from 10:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., at Millbrook Country Corner.
Trophies will be awarded in the various classes. Registration fee for vehicles is $15.
The event will also include 50/50, prize drawings, and a raffle for a Camo Browning 12 gauge auto shot gun. And, food and refreshments will be available.
Millbrook Country Corner is located on Route 15 at 3633 S. James Madison Highway.
Rocky Mount United Methodist Church is celebrating Homecoming on Sunday, September 2.
The day will begin with Sunday school at 10 a.m. At 11:15 a.m., the Reverend Bob Jennings, new pastor for the Buckingham UMC Charge, which includes Rocky Mount, will lead the Homecoming worship service.
After worship, a covered dish lunch will be shared. Then, at 2 p.m., an afternoon song service will feature Tommy Moore and Second Time Around.
Beginning on Monday, September 3 through Friday, September 7, Rocky Mount will host revival services at 7 p.m. each evening. The Reverend Rick Bucher, of Thomas Chapel UMC in Cartersville, will be the featured speaker for revival.
Music will include Dillwyn's First Baptist Church Choir and Cody Moss on Monday, Smokey Wilson on Tuesday, Browns Chapel UMC Choir and Red Clay on Wednesday, the Ownby Trio on Thursday, and the Gospel Time Trio on Friday.
Pastor Jennings and the Rocky Mount UMC Family invite you to join with them for Homecoming and Revival. Rocky Mount UMC is located off Route 15 at 236 Rocky Mount Road.
Centenary United Methodist Church will celebrate Homecoming on Sunday, September 2, at 11 am, with the Reverend Doug Paysour delivering the message. A children's church will be provided.
Immediately following the worship service, a covered dish luncheon will be shared in the fellowship hall.
After lunch, at 1:30 p.m., a time of special music is planned featuring the Reverend Maynard Jones and the Jones Family.
Revival services will be held on Monday, September 3, through Thursday, September 6, at 7:30 each evening. The Reverend Brant Hays will be delivering the message each night. Each revival service will include special music and a children's church.

The Curdsville Community Center is hosting a Yard Sale on Saturday, September 1, from 8 a.m. to noon, at the CCC.
Anyone that would like to reserve a spot to sell their wares is asked to contact Barbara Kragh at 392-6320; Marie Flowers at 315-0152; or Bettie Bass at 392-8360.
There is a $10 charge to reserve a spot. Participants are asked to set-up by 7:30 a.m. on the morning of the sale.
The Curdsville Community Center is conveniently located just off Route 15, on Route 633, School Road.
The Arvonia Volunteer Fire Department will host its annual Labor Day Barbecue on Sunday, September 2, at the firehouse. BBQ will be ready at 2 p.m.
For a donation of $8, you'll get one-half barbecue chicken, Cole slaw, baked beans, roll, dessert, and beverage.
Meals will be available for take out or you can join with your neighbors and friends and enjoy your meal at the firehouse.
AVFD expresses its appreciation for your continued support of its barbecues and extends its gratitude to those who are willing to prepare and donate the desserts and baked beans.
Mt. Tabor United Methodist Church is celebrating Homecoming on Sunday, September 9, beginning with worship at 11 a.m., led by the church's pastor, the Reverend Don Moore.
After the worship service, a fellowship luncheon will be shared on the grounds.
Homecoming ushers in three nights of revival, Monday, September 10 through Wednesday, September 12, at 7:30 p.m. each evening.

Do you wanna dance? Classes in ballroom and Latin dances will be offered on Tuesday nights from 6 to 7:30 p.m., at Buckingham County High School in the Concourse Area. Classes start on September 4 and run through October 23. Sandra Mangialetti is the instructor. And, yes, she can teach even those of us who claim to have two left feet.
The classes will cover five different Ballroom and Latin dances. Participants will learn approximately four different steps to each dance.
Dances covered may include the Waltz, Rumba, Cha-Cha, West Coast Swing, and Salsa Mambo. Cost is $40. Register by calling the Buckingham County Department of Recreation at (434) 969-4242.
