WEST VIRGINIA, August 21 – Olive J. Thorne, 94, formerly of Rivesville, West Virginia died Saturday, August 18, 2012 in St. Barbara's Memorial Nursing Home in Monongah, WV. She was born May 20, 1918 in the Miracle Run Community in Monongalia County, WV, a daughter of the late Mahlon and Mary Tennant Lemley.

Mrs. Thorne was a homemaker and member of the Wesley Chapel United Methodist Church where she taught Sunday school for the Adult Class and served as the church's pianist for many years. She was also an honorary member of the Grace Lutheran Church in Fairmont, WV. Mrs. Thorne was a graduate of Wadestown High School, a member of the Pleasant View Homeakers and Rivesville Senior Citizens Association.

She is survived by a son, Dennis Thorne and wife, Judy of Farmville; two daughters, Kathryn Bragg and husband, Bernard of Rivesville, WV and Karen Thorne and roommate, Pam Yurisko of Shinnston, WV; two grandchildren, John Bragg and wife, Karen of Fairmont, WV and Diane Bragg of Rivesville, WV. She was preceded in death by her husband, Herbert O. “Jake” Thorne, in 1992, sister, Roxie Walker and two half-brothers, Dewey E. Lemley and Isaac D. Lemley.

The funeral service was held in the Ford Funeral Home on Tuesday, August 21, with the Reverend Stanley Merrifield and Pastor Matt Holbert officiating. The committal service followed in the McCurdysville Cemetery in Monongalia County, WV.
