The Prospect Historical Society thanks each of you for coming out last Friday night to enjoy the walk and talk through Prospect. One walker stated he enjoyed the walk and did not realize there was so much history in Prospect.

Mr. and Mrs. Bobby Fulcher and their four children took a walk on High Bridge Trail on Sunday afternoon; their walk was cut short when they happened upon a very large black bear. This happened just west of the Tuggle crossing.

Mrs. Flora Bolt met Mrs. Alice Bartlett and Mrs. Frances Southall Aug. 9 for lunch at Merk's Place. Following lunch Flora visited Ruth Southall, Dot Shumaker and Page Johnson at Brookview. She then visited Margaret Banko and Eliz Manis at the Watkins Center.

Last Tuesday Betty Meadows and Ann Norton enjoyed the day shopping in Appomattox.

Mrs. Peggy Kelsey attended the Woman's Club “Spring Tea” at the Historic Train Station last week.

On Aug. 10, Ann Norton, Betty Sumner and Valerie Montgomery visited Betty Meadows enjoying coffee and small talk.

Gerald Palmer entertained his nephew, Kevin Palmer, with a cook-out for his birthday. Family members joined in the celebration.

Mr. and Mrs. Don Meadows had for their dinner guest on Monday night their son, Donald along with their good friends Mr. and Mrs. John Gager.

Mrs. Shirley Flowers at 392-7558 is looking for a free good natured male dog. If you have a good natured male dog and wish to give it a good home give her a call.

Friends and neighbors are wishing a speedy recovery for all those who are sick at this time.

Neighbors and friends are expressing their sincere sympathy to the family of Mrs. Barbara Floyd Martin.

Calvary Chapel-Farmville invites you to worship with them on Sunday mornings at 10:30 a.m. They invite you to join them each week on Wednesday evening for Bible Study for all age groups at 7 p.m. Calvary Chapel-Farmville is located at 45 Simpson Road in Prospect, two miles west of Dowdy's Corner just off of US 460.
