The Prospect Volunteer Fire Department Auxiliary thanks each of you for your support last Saturday night for their chicken dinner. The weather was hot but the food and fellowship was great.

Congratulations to Cindy Foster and Ian Scheu on their marriage July 1. May you have many happy and successful years together.

On Friday Mrs. Emma Sharpe and son, Jeffrey, of Arvonia, visited her mother, Mrs. Pat Smith. Jeffrey spent the weekend with his grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Jeff Smith. On Saturday Jeffrey and his cousin, Charles Smith, of Keysville, accompanied their grandparents to Lynchburg. They had lunch at the Sunday Grille and then went to the Children's Museum. Saturday evening they attended the wedding reception of Ben and Marla Zook. After church and dinner at their grandparents the boys returned to their homes on Sunday afternoon.

Mr. and Mrs. Richard Stockton met with some of her cousins for lunch on Tuesday, Mr. and Mrs. Kendall Adams of Auburn, AL, Mr. and Mrs. Bill Aiken of Rustburg, Mr. and Mrs. Henry Booth and Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Booth both of Farmville. The food was good but the fellowship and reconnecting was better. Lots of family stories were shared.

Mr. and Mrs. Don Meadows attended the Annual Chicken Dinner at the Curdsville Community Center on Monday night. The Dixie Hill Grass Band provided the entertainment for the evening.

Mrs. Betty Meadows accompanied Mr. and Mrs. Jim Trinkle to the reunion honoring Virginia's former governors, first ladies, their families, and descendents on Thursday evening at the Executive Mansion in Richmond. Governor and Mrs. Robert F. McDonnell hosted the event. The Mansion will be celebrating their Bicentennial in 2013 and items, pictures, etc. from all former governors and their families will be on display during this year. Mr. Trinkle's grandfather was governor of Virginia in the 1920's.

Mary Jo Stockton and son Sean hosted a “Birthday Party” for husband and daddy, Lon on Saturday. Many friends from all around came to express their best wishes. Lon's birthday was on Wednesday.

Mr. and Mrs. John Fulcher attended Sandy Creek Gospel Bluegrass Band concert at the Eureka Baptist Church in Keysville last Sunday night.

We were all out of electricity from Friday night to Sunday night, the Douglas Bolt's, the Steve Bolt's, the Kyle Bolt's and Flora Bolt. They all had generators to run part time. The Dale Bolt family never lost power so Flora Bolt went to see them on Saturday morning and stayed until Monday morning.

Flora Bolt visited the shut-ins on Thursday at Brookview, visiting Page Johnson, Dot Shumaker and Ruth Southall.

Flora Bolt talked to her sister, Jean Woodson Joynes in Williamsburg to find she had been sick and is now in rehab. Flora's sister in-law Beulah Bolt, of Willis, has had knee replacement and is in rehab in Roanoke.

Friends and neighbors are wishing a speedy recovery for all those who are sick at this time: Elton Franklin and Shirley Mottley.

Neighbors and friends are expressing their sincere sympathy to the family of Mrs. Ida Scruggs LeWarne.
