Seventeen year old Katie Raymond, a rising senior on the Fuqua School golf team, finished third medalist at the Capital-Virginia Optimist qualifier held June 10 at The Crossings Golf Club in Glen Allen. She will be one of only three girls in the (15 – 18 age group) that will represent Virginia at the The Optimist International Junior Golf Championships that will take place July 24 – 29 at PGA National Resort & Spa in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida. The resort was the site of the 2012 Honda Classic, held in March. Competition is a 72-hole stroke play tournament. The first, second and third rounds are on July 26, 27 and 28. The top 50 boys and top 35 girls advance to the final championship round on July 29.
