Evergreen Music Festival Has Lavender Theme

On June 16, from 11 am – 6 pm, Evergreen Lavender Farm in Evergreen, will present the 11th annual Evergreen Music Festi-val with a lavender twist.
At noon, local favorites Witness will be playing their blend of rock, Christian, and Americana. The harmonious vocals of Christie Mayberry and Joy Bagby, combined with Bryan Baine on drums, Caleb Elder, lead guitar, Brian Robinson, acoustic guitar, and Ken Swanson, bass. Blue Line Highway brings their eclectic sound from 1-2:45 pm, followed by bluegrass favor-ites, Allen's Mill from 3-5 pm. Root2 will be performing their unique blend of Celtic and Delta blues in the barn.
A touch of lavender will flavor the menu. The Babcock House of Appomattox, will provide North Carolina style barbecue, slaw, chips, and tea. Lavender Pasta Salad will be their specialty. DeVault Vineyards will be pouring their local wines under the tent. Sweet Serenity Shoppe will have Lavender Lemon Cake Balls, Mocha Lavender Truffles and Lavender Fudge. Laven-der lemonade, lavender soda, and other beverages will be available from Baine's Books and Coffee. Stroll through the flower gardens and the lavender rows. Cut your own lavender for $7 a bunch. In the barn, at 1 and 2:30 pm, weave a lavender wand ($3) and at 3 pm create a lavender wreath ($25). Pottery, glass beadwork, jewelry, bath and body lotions, lavender plants, and other crafts will be on sale. Lavender is the theme!
Bring a chair to enjoy a relaxing afternoon under the giant oaks and in the garden. Tickets are available at the gate for $5. Kids 10 and under are free. Faculty and staff of Appomattox can come for $3, (just show your ID badge).
Directions: from Appomattox, 460 East, four miles to Old Evergreen Rd. (Route 630), make a right, one mile to the train trestle-the Festival is straight ahead, on the other side of the road.
