For its regular April meeting, the Buckingham-Dillwyn Garden Club visited Tufton Farm at Monticello and toured the Center for Historic Plants. In the photo, Peggy Cornett, the curator of plants at Monticello, (back to camera), leads the group on a tour of the extensive plantings of plants known to have been grown by Thomas Jefferson and his farmers. She described the Center’s work of preserving these plant types, as well as others from the same historical period. Club members, from left, Sharon Byrum, Jeanette Reck, Pat Johnson, Barbara Knabe, Barbara Weeler, Jackie Fairbarns, Marie Flowers, Pam Husky, Marie Baker and Elsie Towler. Also present were Suzanne Vandegrift, Tom Schwarz, Drake Schwarz, Kelly Love-Schwarz, Pam Murray and Kay Carter.
