How Fair Is Pres. Obama?

Editor, The Herald:
President Obama has often speaks of the importance of “fairness.” How fair are his positions in two vital areas?
First, how fair is it for approximately one-half of all citizens not to pay any income tax, while the other half pays hefty rates? Would it not be fairer if Mr. Obama would sponsor a policy that would require each person to pay a given percentage of his income. Those with lower incomes would pay less, and those with higher incomes would pay more.
Second, are we of this generation being fair to future generations, our children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren? We now borrow some 40 cents of every dollar that we spend. In the last two and one-half years, our federal government has committed itself to some 5.5 trillion dollars of debt.
How much is one trillion dollars? If one would spend one million dollars per day from the day that Christ was born, he would have spent approximately three quarters of a trillion dollars.
Our president should go beyond talking “fairness” and propose and endorse policies that constitute fairness, not only for our generation, but for our posterity as well.
