Mrs. Jane Andrews,89 Of Farmville Dies May 23

MAY 27 – Mrs. Martha Jane Jones Andrews, 89, of Farmville, widow of E. J. Andrews Jr., passed into heaven from her home on May 23, 2008. Born in Monterey, she graduated from Monterey High School in 1937, and from State Teacher College in 1941 (now Longwood University) She was a charter member of Heritage Baptist Church.
Mrs. Andrews was retired from the Longwood Alumni Office in 1998 after serving as an Office Services Assistant for 35 years. She was a member of the Weyanoke Garden Club, and was a life member of the Federated Garden Club of Virginia.
Surviving are two daughters, Ann Andrews Ellington of Richmond, and Martha Andrews Chandler of Danville; son-in-law, Lee Chandler also of Danville; a grandson, Christopher B. Ellington, and a great grandson, Taylor B. Ellington both of Richmond. She was predeceased by a grandson, Jason S. Chandler of Danville, a brother, Richard C. Jones Jr., and a sister, Eleanor Jones Biddle both of Brookston, Indiana.
A memorial service and lunch for family and friends was held at noon on Monday, May 26, at Heritage Baptist Church on Milnwood Road.
