Habitat Earns Two Top State Awards

FARMVILLE – The Farmville Area Habitat For Humanity stands alone in the Commonwealth of Virginia.
As does one of its volunteers.
As the best in the state.
The local Habitat affiliate is the recipient of 2012 Habitat Excellence in Housing Advocacy Award.
And the Virginia Habitat Volunteer of the Year was awarded to Farmville Habitat Volunteer, Charlotte Green.
Every year Habitat for Humanity Virginia recognizes Virginia Habitat affiliates that best represent and deliver the mission of Habitat. There are over 50 Habitat affiliates across the state of Virginia.
Charlotte Green a local contractor donated over 500 hours teaching and leading women in building the first Women Build home completed by Farmville Area Habitat.
Farmville Area Habitat is playing an important roll along with other Habitat affiliates and housing organizations in bringing to the forefront of the general assembly the creation and funding of a Virginia housing trust fund.
The awards were presented at Habitat Virginia's 2012 Affiliate Training held in Charlottesville on March 26-27. The training featured more than 50 courses with topics including Restore management, fundraising, board development and tours of Greater Charlottesville Habitat's projects. There were about 170 attendees representing nearly 40 affiliates, HFHI, and the Florida SSO.
Farmville Area Habitat for Humanity (FAHFH) is a non-profit, volunteer Christian ministry that partners with qualified families, volunteers, and donors to provide housing for families in need in the Farmville Area.
