The five-year “Long Road Home” program continues April 13-15 at Clover Hill Village, a living history village owned and operated by the Appomattox County Historical Society. This year, the program will commemorate and examine the events surrounding the 1865 battles at Dinwiddie Court House and Five Forks. Spectators will be encouraged to participate in many of the activities conducted throughout the weekend. Generals Lee and Grant, along with many of their staff and subordinate officers, will be present and available to speak with visitors on military matters. Civilians in period dress will mingle with visitors and talk of home life during the period.

The Long Road Home series of events are unlike any other Civil War re-enactment or living history program. Some of the finest living historians extant today will be joined with dedicated Civil War re-enactors to present an unparalleled look into the struggles of the time that will leave spectators and participants alike feeling as if they have stepped back into the 19th century and experienced what it was like for men and women who lived and fought through those critical moments in American history.

A two-day pass is $15 for adults and $7 for children. There is no charge for infants. All ticket sales will be at the gate during the event.

Clover Hill Village is located at 5747 River Ridge Road, Appomattox, a mile off of Highway 24, approximately three miles east of U.S. 460 and the town of Appomattox.
