Alice “Sue” Richardson Hoffman, 87

CHARLOTTE C.H. – A memorial service for Alice “Sue” Richardson Hoffman, 87, was held Sunday, April 1, 2012 at 3 p.m. at Village Presbyterian Church, Charlotte C.H. Mrs. Hoffman died Friday, March 30, 2012 in Greensboro, NC.

Sue and her husband, William Hoffman, lived in Farmville a number of years while he was a professor at Hampden-Sydney College and was working on several of his novels.

She was born in Bluefield, WV on November 13, 1924.

Mrs. Hoffman was a graduate of Hollins College, where she majored in math and physics and pursued her life-long love of riding horses. She always had horses and other animals at her home of over 47 years, Wynyard, where she also spent many hours in her flower garden. She was a member of Farmington Hunt Club, Charlotte Country Club and Village Presbyterian Church in Charlotte Court House.

Mrs. Hoffman is survived by a daughter, Margaret Kay Huffman, son-in-law, Neil Huffman and their three children, Hunter, Andrew and Kathleen “K.K.” Huffman of Greensboro, NC. She was preceded in death by her husband, William Hoffman and a daughter, Ruth Beckley Hoffman.
