Coceile Butt Dunlap, 87

MARCH 6 – Coceile Butt Dunlap, 87, of Farmville departed this life entering into eternal rest, Thursday, March 1, 2012. She was preceded in death by her husband, William Henry Dunlap Jr. “Jack”, and a son, Kevin Frederick Dunlap. She was the daughter of the late W. Fred Butt and Callie Victoria Parson Butt from Yards.

After graduating from high school in Roanoke, she worked for F.W. Woolworth and C&P Telephone Co. She was a talented artist who taught art lessons privately to many young students. Her compassionate personality and interest in helping others led her to volunteer for the Farmville Library, Longwood Center for the Visual Arts and the Woman's Club of Farmville. She was an active member of the Farmville Baptist Church since 1954 participating in many of the church's activities, committees, and departments. Her love of history and passion for friendships led her to become a member of the Farmville Serendipity Club.

Those left to cherish her memory are a son, Derrick Lynn Dunlap, “Rick”, and wife, Jody of Richmond; daughter-in-law, Jackie Dunlap Shaw and husband, Bob of Hadensville; grandchildren, William Ryan Dunlap of Redondo Beach, CA, Megan Dunlap Stacy of Midlothian, and Tyler F. Dunlap of Richmond; five great-grandchildren and two nieces, Nancy Jo Butt Angstman and Carol Ann Butt Scott.

A funeral service was held Monday, March 5 at the Farmville Baptist Church, Farmville. Interment followed at Trinity Memorial Gardens.
