January 26 – Belated Happy Birthday wishes are sent out to Jan Barone, of Cumberland, who celebrated her birthday on Tuesday, January 24.

Barry and Linda Miles, of Cumberland, Mary Billbrough, of Farmville and Betty Atkins, of Dillwyn, all enjoyed an afternoon of food, fun and fellowship at a Farmville Restaurant on Sunday afternoon, January 22.

Happy Birthday wishes are sent out to Alan Gough, of Winginia, celebrating on Monday, January 30, Kathleen McCoy, of Appomattox, celebrating on Tuesday, January 31; Ella R. Shoddy, of New Canton, celebrating on Wednesday, February 1, and Bonnie Worley, of Cumberland, celebrating on Thursday, February 2.

Our thoughts and prayers go out this week to those who are sick and shut-in.

Happy Anniversary wishes go out to Larry and Barbara Barone, of Cumberland, celebrating on Saturday, January 28, Luther and Barbara Davis, of Arvonia, celebrating on Wednesday, February 1, and Jerry and Barbara Heifer, of Dillwyn, celebrating on Thursday, February 2.

Our sympathys are extended to the Smith Family of New Canton. Albert Irvin Smith, 78, went home to be with the Lord on Monday, January 23. A funeral service was held on January 26. He will be greatly missed by all.

Visiting in the home of Ralph and Fern Dunnavant of Dillwyn on Saturday, January 21, were Russell and Diane Green of Cumberland. A nice time was had by all.

Spreading God's Gift Inc. of Buckingham is a non-profit local organization that extends help to individuals and families in their hour of need. Monthly meetings are held the first Wednesday of each month at 6:30 p.m. in Dillwyn. A benefit dinner concert for Spreading God's Gifts, Inc. will be on Saturday evening, February 4 from 6 to 8 p.m. in the Buckingham County Middle School Cafetorium (located just off of Route 60 on High School Road in Buckingham). Dinner will include homemade spaghetti, bread, tossed salad, dessert, water, tea or coffee for a tax-deductible donation.

Throughout the evening, special music will be presented by Cathy Whatley of Virginia Beach. She will perform hits of the late Patsy Cline and Gospel Music.

Funds resulting from this event will be used to help individuals and families in need.

Arvonia Christian Fellowship Church, located off of U.S. 15 North of Dillwyn in Arvonia on State Route 672, will host a Gospel sing and supper on Saturday, February 4. A buffet supper will be served at 6 p.m. followed by Gospel Music beginning at 7 p.m. featuring church singers and others. A love offering will be received. All are cordially invited to attend.

The Buckingham County Christian Fellowship Association a non-profit organization, will hold their regular monthly meeting on Saturday, February 4 at 1 p.m. at Welcome Wesleyan Church, located on U.S. Route 15 North of Dillwyn in New Canton. All members are cordially invited to attend and bring a covered dish. Tea and coffee will be provided by the association.
