NOVEMBER 5 — George Walker Patteson, 83, passed away on Friday, November 1, 2013 with the same gentle dignity with which he lived. A loving husband, father and grandfather, he spent his working life at Central Fidelity Bank where he served as Vice President of Trust.
A member of The Richmond Blues, Mr. Walker also served in the United States Navy on the USS Hemminger and in the Navy League. He graduated from Hampden-Sydney College and attended the University of Virginia School of Law. In recent years, Mr. Patteson was a docent at the Virginia Aviation Museum and a doorkeeper at the General Assembly. He was also a member of the Sons of the Revolution, Richmond Kiwanis Club, The Country Club of Virginia, Fishing Bay Yacht Club, and in the past, the Virginia Motor Sport Club.
Mr. Walker is survived by his beloved wife, Shirley; daughters, Anne Patteson Franklin and her husband, Howard and grandson, Guy Patteson Franklin; as well as Elizabeth Patteson and her husband, Michael; cousins, Mary Patteson Morgan and Jack Patteson. He was dearly loved by a group of close friends whom he has treasured since the 1950s.
A service and burial was held Tuesday, November 5 at St. Mary’s Episcopal Church, Richmond.
Memorial contributions may be made to St. Mary’s Episcopal Church or to the Pablove Foundation, 6607 West Sunset Boulevard, Los Angeles, CA 90028, dedicated to fighting pediatric cancer.
