It’s never too late to say “Welcome Back,” and the Downtown Farmville Partnerships, in connection with Longwood University, wants to do just that.

As part of Longwood’s Family Weekend, several Main Street businesses will be participating in the first Community Cookie Walk on Saturday, Sept. 21, from 2-4 p.m. These businesses will have on their front windows cards that read “Welcome Back” with pictures of cookies. Inside there will be a table with free cookies for students and their families.

“This is one way for our community to reach out to the students who are such a valuable part of our lives together,” Dr. Tom Robinson, pastor of the Farmville Presbyterian Church and coordinator of the Cookie Walk, said. “We didn’t want to make this too complicated. Just a simple gesture for our businesses to reach out to students, welcome them back to campus, and also show what they have to offer.”

Most of the participating businesses are on the north part of Main Street. One Southside establishment taking part it the Robert Motion Museum, which will offer not only cookies buy free tours of the exhibits for Longwood families.
