Mr. and Mrs. Michael Owen, of Prospect, are pleased to announce the engagement of their daughter, Melody Hope Owen, to Richard Zachary Brown, son of Mr. and Mrs. Dwight Brown, of Charlotte Court House.

The bride-to-be is the granddaughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. James Maxey Wilkerson, of Lynchburg, and the late Mr. and Mrs. Morris Giles, of Danville.

The prospective groom is the grandson of Mr. and Mrs. Shirley Brown, of Charlotte Court House, and Mr. and Mrs. Harry Tharpe, of Keysville.

Miss Owen and Mr. Brown eared their bachelor’s degrees at Lynchburg College. Miss Owen obtained her Master’s degree in Curriculum and Instruction from Lynchburg College. Mr. Brown obtained his Master’s degree in Agronomy and Soils from Auburn University.

Miss Owen is employed with AREVA Inc. in Lynchburg, and Mr. Brown is employed with Halifax Soil and Water Conservation District.

An afternoon wedding will take place September 28 in Lynchburg.
