PAMPLIN, July 25 — Robert Walker Covington Jr., 75, of Pamplin, died Tuesday, July 23, 2013, at his residence. He was the husband of Margie Childress Covington.

Born in Appomattox County on April 9, 1938, he was the son of the late Annie Rosser and Robert (Bob) Walker Covington Sr. He was a member of Walkers Presbyterian Church, the Pamplin Volunteer Fire Department, Pamplin Ruritan Club, and Woodmen of the World Lodge #71. He served his country as a member of the US Army, posted in Germany. Mr. Covington went to work for Charles T. Gills at the phone company and retired from Verizon Phone Company after 30 years of service.

In addition to his wife he is survived by a son, Donald (Don) Walker Covington and wife, Dawn of Keysville; a daughter, Marlenea Clickner and husband, Ray of Pamplin; two grandsons, Aaron Brinkley and Isaac Coleman; brother and sister-in-law, John (Johnny) H. and Anne Covington of Pamplin; and a sister and brother-in-law, Estelle C. and David (Dave) Woosley of Lynchburg.

The family will receive friends at Robinson Funeral Home today, Thursday, July 25 from 7-8:30 p.m. and other times at the residence.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m., Friday, July 26 at Walkers Presbyterian Church by the Dr. Joe McCutchen. Burial will follow in the Swan Family Cemetery.
